Thanksgiving '09

This year we are thankful for so much. We have been blessed to have met some of the most fabulous people while here in Ohio. Sure we may have our gripes, but in the time of need, so many people have been here for us.

Thank you to Henry and Peggy for having us here. Thank you to Michelle, Erin, Alex and Jeremiah for rescuing us this holiday season. Thank you Kerry for being such a great friend- even if you are billions of miles away. Thank you to our parents, you have always been behind us and have lifted us when we needed that lift. Thank you to the French Family, who extended an offer for us to join them at their home on Thanksgiving- we are truly grateful for your welcome. Thank you to all of our friends and family... without you, we would not be who we are today.

So a little about Thanksgiving... Us girls started out by watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Isabella absolutely loved it! She would wave at all the people participating- she would also dance to the music sang and played. Was too cute. Carly enjoyed watching the MTP more than the Ronald McDonald Parade in Chicago (on WGN). Abby liked watching all the dancers, figures!

After the parade, the girls watched a couple movies, while I made some potato salad and pumpkin bread. Tom made some biscuits lathered in butter and honey (what Boo is eating for breakfast). The turkey still didn't defrost in time, but that is OK- We had plenty of other foods that Erin, Michelle and Erin's mom gave to us :) . Slowly, over the course of the day, we prepared the food and sweets. Tom also made a pasta dish out of noodles, corn, green beans, various oils and tomatoes. Dinner was yummy! Desert was even yummier!

So speaking of desert. The plan (for the last three weeks) was to make sugar cookies. We finally decided that Thanksgiving would be the best time to make them... so we got out all the ingredients and set forth in our sweet mission! Along the way, the girls had to 'test for poison'. Thankfully, nothing was poisoned! However, because of all the sugar that Isabella had ingested, she was a wreck! I have NEVER seen the child so hyper. Luckily by 9:30ish, she finally had a sugar crash. Unfortunately by 11pm her tummy was feeling the wrath of having too much! Top make matters worse, I could not find the gas drops for her... so the best we could do was hold her against us (adding pressure to her belly) and pat her back. Eventually she fell back to sleep :)

All and all, we had a great day- regardless of the stress getting up to that day; and we are very blessed to have the wonderful friends and family that we have. We love you very much and Thank You from the bottom of our hearts.
